Venus Resort is one of the resorts in the southern part of the Romanian coast of the Black Sea and is administered by the city of Mangalia.

Located between the resorts of Cap Aurora to the north and Saturn to the south, Venus stands out among Romanian resorts as a family resort. See some details here

In this article:

History and Development

Designed and built in the early 1970s, Venus Resort gave most of its hotels feminine names from Roman mythology or names of flowers (e.g., Afrodita, Dana, Raluca, Carmen).

The original architecture was modern for its time, with hotels set amid lush greenery.

After 1990, the resort went through a process of privatization and modernization, which continues today with significant investment in hotel infrastructure.

Access and Transportation

Road access is via National Road 39 (DN39 / E87), which links Constanța with Mangalia and Vama Veche.

The nearest train station is Mangalia Station. From there, you can get to Venus by local minibus, bus or taxi (the distance is about 3-4 km).

The nearest airport is “Mihail Kogălniceanu” International Airport in Constanța (CND), about 70 km away.

Venus Beach

The beach in Venus Resort has been completely transformed by a large-scale beach widening and coastal protection project carried out by the “Apele Române” (Romanian Waters) National Administration and completed before the 2024 summer season.

The changes are substantial and have permanently altered the layout of the beach and the experience it offers tourists.

Main Changes and Current Features:

Massive Beach Widening: The most visible change is the expansion of the sandy area. The beach in Venus is now considerably wide, exceeding 100 meters in many places. It now looks continuous and uniform.

New Protective Structures: Protection against erosion is now provided by new, modern structures. These include submerged breakwaters farther offshore and visible breakwaters built parallel to the shoreline or at the ends of the beach sections. These new structures are longer and sturdier, designed to stabilize the new coastline over the long term.

Features of the New Beach:

Sand: The sand used for the expansion was dredged from the seabed. As a result, it may contain more broken shells and may be coarser.

Getting into the water: The sea floor slopes gradually. The distance you have to walk across the sand to the waterline is now significantly longer.

Facilities: The beach is divided into sectors, with clearly marked areas for sunbeds and umbrellas (run by private operators) and large public areas where tourists can set up their own towels and umbrellas.

Sulfur Springs: The resort's distinctive natural feature – its mesothermal sulfurous mineral springs – has been preserved. They still flow out at the shore, directly onto the beach. The areas where therapeutic mud builds up are still accessible and used by tourists for unconventional treatments (“mud baths”).

Seaside Accommodation 2025 – Venus Resort

The range of accommodation in Venus Resort is diverse and has undergone extensive modernization. Accommodation falls into several categories:

Hotels: Ratings range from 2 to 5 stars. In recent years, there has been a clear trend toward fully renovating old hotels and repositioning them in the 4- and 5-star segment.

Most of them operate on an All Inclusive or Ultra All Inclusive basis, offering complete service packages (meals, drinks, pool access, playgrounds, entertainment). A standout is the 5-star Carmen International Hotel Venus (formerly Becali Hotel).

Villas and Guesthouses: There are also options in smaller establishments, such as villas or guesthouses, including Mioara Guesthouse and Brateș Greaca

For the 2025 seaside season, accommodation options in Venus Resort are diverse, with the resort dominated by modern hotel complexes, most of them rated 4 stars.

A centerpiece of the offering is the Mera Resort complex. This resort enjoys a strategic location, with some of its buildings right on the shore of Lake Venus and just a few hundred meters from the newly expanded beach.

The range of hotels in Venus is rounded out by other popular accommodations, such as Hotel Iulia Resort, Hotel Turquoise, Hotel SunRise, Hotel Dana Resort, Hotel Sunquest or Hotel Afrodita, which offer everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Many of these hotels and villas are located either near the entrance from Cap Aurora or in the center of Venus Resort. To find the best deals in Venus, tourists can check online platforms such as Booking Venus or look for accommodation deals directly at hotel reception desks.

Venus blends seamlessly into the neighboring resorts; for example, the beach between Venus and Saturn Resort is now an unbroken strip of sand, and the distance from the entrance to Venus Resort to the center of Mangalia is about 3 km.

So, when planning your Venus 2025 vacation, whether you choose a package at one of the hotels in Venus or take advantage of the easy connection between Venus and Saturn, you have plenty of accommodation options.
