Location
Transalpina Ski Resort, Romania's newest ski resort, is located near Vidra Lake, in Voineasa commune, Vrancea County, in the picturesque Parâng Mountains range. Here, winter sports enthusiasts, especially from the western and central regions of the country, can enjoy a variety of skiing opportunities, whatever their level of experience.
Road Access and Distances
Access road to Transalpina Ski Resort

You can reach the Voineasa – Vidra ski area from several directions, but we recommend taking road conditions into account to choose the most suitable route, especially in winter:
1. From Petroșani (for visitors from the north and northwest of the country):
This option is recommended, as the road is well maintained even in winter conditions.
Route: Leave Petroșani (DN7A) and drive about 30 kilometers to the village of Jieț. From there, continue toward Jieț Gorges, passing Groapa Seacă Chalet and then Obârșia Lotrului Chalet. After about 5 km, you'll reach your destination.
2. From Râmnicu Vâlcea (for visitors from the south of the country):
This road is the only option from the south of the country to the Vidra resort; it is partly paved but fairly well maintained in winter.
Route: Leave Râmnicu Vâlcea (DN7A) and drive about 70 kilometers via Călimănești and Brezoi to Voineasa. After this stretch, continue on the DN7A until you reach the Vidra ski area, after about 30 kilometers.
3. From Sebeș, Alba (not recommended in winter):
This option is not recommended because in winter the road is poorly cleared of snow, and you may run into difficulties, or it may even be closed to traffic (between Oașa and Obârșia Lotrului).
Route: From Sebeș, follow the DN67C (Transalpina) toward Petrești, Căpâlna, Șugag, Tău, and Oașa. However, we recommend avoiding this route in the cold season because of unsafe road conditions.
Be sure to check the weather and road conditions before you leave, and take winter conditions into account when choosing the most suitable route.

To make sure you get rental equipment, we recommend arriving early.

The weather on the Transalpina is changeable, as the resort is located at high altitude. It's a good idea to check the forecast before coming to ski to make sure you have the right gear and clothing.
Summer Season! Ride the Gondola Up to 2,000 m!
